The motto of the house is Aut Visum Aut Non!: 'You either see it or you don't'.  I'm not sure what we saw, but it was something, a creepy, eery feeling.  The kicker came while we were in the ground floor dining room, about to leave, discussing the house with its current inhabitant David Milne (Dennis Sever died in 1999).  Greg puts his hand out to avoid running into a piece of furniture (it is still candle-lit and very dark) and finds, instead of hardwood, the warm, fuzzy head of a very-much-alive cat (named Madge), who promptly starts to purr.
