The Thames at Night
The Thames at Night
We take the Tube back to Tower Hill and walk down to Tower Bridge. It's raining but we walk across the bridge and get a lovely view of the City, the Tower, and surrounding area. On the South End side, we go into the Bridge House tavern for a few drinks. It is a Adnam's tied house (they make Southwold, Ghost Ship, and many others). They own 69 pubs, most of them in the far eastern part of England. After they close, we walk back across the bridge and catch the Tube.
We get off the tube one stop early, at Gloucester Road, and walk along Cromwell road, looking for an open bar. We find CheckMate, a hotel and tavern (taverns can stay open later than pubs). We have several drinks and buy several more for take-away, and then head back to our hotel, a short rainy walk away.
